Note:Each Bluetooth device is different, follow the instructions provided by your device manufacturer. If you are pairing a BlackBerry make sure to follow the instructions located at the beginning of this guide. When the search is complete the wizard will prompt you to select the device you wish to add in my case it was the BlackBerry , click on the device and click Next. Note: If your device does not appear, ensure that device is set to be discovered and click on the Search Again button.
In my case Windows chose a Passkey so I entered the provided Passkey into my phone for validation. It appears in my Programs but has disappeared from my system tray. When you click on it or right click, then open , it appears to be thinking but then nothing. If I right click, then run as Administrator, it will open a User Account Control box asking if you want to allow the Bluetooth Program to make changes to your computer, and whether checking yes or no, the UAC box closes but Bluetooth still won't open.

If your computer is not equipped with a Bluetooth receiver, you can use an external Bluetooth dongle, which plugs into a USB port on your laptop, to provide Bluetooth functionality on your Vista laptop.
Turn on the Bluetooth switch, if your computer is equipped with such a switch. The switch may be located on the front or side of your laptop. If you are unsure where your Bluetooth switch is located, check the manual for your machine.
If using an external Bluetooth dongle, plug the device into a USB port and wait for Windows Vista to identify the device and install the appropriate drivers. The Control Panel interface opens. The Devices dialog box opens. The Bluetooth Devices screen opens and displays all available Bluetooth devices.
The Bluetooth device you just turned on should be listed.
