What stood out to me the most is how the different colors were used to relay emotions felt within the scene or that they were trying to get you to feel from the scene - or at least your interpretation of it. Some of the images didn't quite fit the color it was associated to - not directly anyway, and I felt like some of them could have just as easily been placed in other color locations. Regardless, it was interesting to look through.

While a few of the selected images seemed to be a stretch for the "color" selection they represented, this was still a well put together, pretty book. The page numbers were entirely unnecessary but the movie credit at the bottom of each page was nice because although most were easily recognizable a few were such background shots you couldn't tell where they were from.

I was surprised a how well the older films Toy Story, Bug's Life held up against the newer ones Finding Dory, Coco because sometimes age of a work can be jarring in a book like this.

In general it was cool to see the detail in stills because unless you worked on the film or like to pause a film a lot you usually don't interact with the medium in this way. Jan 18, Angela rated it liked it. Pretty book with stills from various Pixar films. There were a lot of references to Finding Nemo and Cars. I would have enjoyed this concept more if there was a Disney film compilation - since there are at least 5x more Disney films than Pixar films.

The way the book is, I think an avid Pixar film fan would really enjoy it - they could try and remember what scene each picture is from. Oct 31, Nadina rated it really liked it Shelves: non-fiction. I really liked this. The progression of color from white to blue through the "rainbow" to red then black was really cool but also very fluid, each page merged slightly more into the next color, so while from the side the pages look like they are chunks of color, as you go through it moves really smoothly from one color into the next.

I liked all the pictures that were chosen and how the color was evident on each picture. This book made me fall in love with Pixar all over again and I would like t I really liked this. It was super short but had a lot of great images from Pixar films. As an art teacher, I will defintiely use these when teaching students about color theory! I think it was a little overpriced though.

Great images though! I wish they explained the color more and gave more context on their creative intention for each scene. Even a small description of what color was used, why it was used, and what emotion it was mean to evoke and what was I liked this book. Even a small description of what color was used, why it was used, and what emotion it was mean to evoke and what was happening in the scene would have been really helpful. Each frame is a beat in a greater story and yet, has its own possibilities. Look closely and you'll see the detail in these animations is phenomenal. Initially, I was skeptical of the images being arranged by color, but it really serves to showcase the brilliance of Pixar's use of color to create a variety of moods. A lovely coffee-table book, the perfect gift for a Incredible! Aug 27, Janice rated it liked it. The cover design is beautiful.

This book is full of movie snippets from most of the Pixar movies, more like a picture book. What's nice about this is that it gives you glimpse of movie moments and scenes which wouldn't have caught your attention.

However, I felt the photos picked weren't as special and a lot came out to be darker than expected. Also if you're a fan of Coco, you'll be disappointed as there are only few pages from that movie.

Dec 06, Jessica JT rated it liked it. This was not exactly what I was expecting. I picked this up after reading The Art of Coco which had beautiful artwork along with some text from different artists that worked on the project. The short paragraphs helped explain the creative process and made you appreciate the finished product so much more.

I was hoping that this would be similar, but it unfortunately only has two pages of introduction at the beginning.
