PRS training 1. There is a CD that is located in the carrying case with the clickers. So put it into the USB port on the front of the computer. I discovered that it will not work there! You can also go ahead and turn them all on. It will open up a bar on your desktop.

This allows different students to use the same clicker since they will put in their ID number. Also, open means that you can use the same clickers with multiple classes. There will be a real number where the is in the brackets.

You might use the same lesson with different classes. You will have to do a bogus session with each class in order to do that the easy way. Those instructions will be on another page. This will cause a box to pop up. You will add information to this box. The Interwrite system is at the heart of a successful interactive collabora- tion, whether it is in a classroom of fourth graders studying world geogra- phy, or in a boardroom of corporate executives brainstorming a new prod- uct launch.

All the tools you will need to stimulate inspiration, connection and participation can be found in the Interwrite Workspace software. The Interwrite Workspace Help file describes all these tools in detail and can be accessed from the Device Manager Menu.

Whiteboard Whiteboard Mode available only when using an Interwrite Board with Mode, Workspace , allows you to capture and preserve notes, drawings, calcula- tions—whatever you write on the Interwrite Board with an Interwrite Marker Pen. Interactive Interactive Mode allows you to open and run applications while in Mouse Mode using the tip of your electronic Interwrite Pen on the Interwrite Mode, Panel screen to move the cursor.

The Panel must be active and connected. Select Interactive Mode from the menu. The Workspace Toolbar displays on the screen. By default, the basic Toolbar is shown here. A more advanced toobar can be selected in the Customize Toolbar Preferences option. Select a capture option from the Capture Line tool dialog, click on the window, or click Text tool and drag to capture a portion of the screen. Exit Properties Bar The Pen tool Properties Bar provides options to change line color, width, transparency, and line ends and line styles.

Each attribute change is displayed in the Preview Box. The best way to familiarize your- self with all the different Interwrite Workspace tools and how they can be used to enhance your presentations is to experiment with them. Page Functions Workspace also provides the ability to move within pages within the window. Select the functions at the bottom of the screen to pan a page, move between pages, use the PRS tool optional , or discard annota- tions.

The Page Creation and Capture tools are used to create the pages in the presenta- tion file and the Annotation Tools are used to create the annotations. The presentation file is automatically saved as a. GWB file. As soon as Interwrite Workspace goes into Annotation Mode, an untitled presentation file is created. Multiple files created today have 01, 02, 03, etc. An existing presentation file can be opened, its pages can be sorted, annotations can be added to the existing pages, and new pages can be added to the file.

Your presentation will determine how each presentation file evolves. For example, you can prepare a presentation file of blank maps ahead of time for a geography lesson. Or, you can capture and annotate each of the monthly earnings spreadsheets as you review the past fiscal year during a budget meeting. Or, you can run a PowerPoint Slide Show in Office Mode Windows only and annotations can be added to each slide and saved in the native file.

Building the Presentation File You can build your presentation file during your presentation, or you can pre-build it, including the screen captures, images, graphs and text pages you want to present.

However you choose to do it, the process is the same. To capture a screen or window, click on the Mouse Mode tool with your Interactive Pen and arrange the desktop for capture. If the computer does not have a serial port, a serial-to-USB adapter can be used and is available at an additional cost. The receivers are daisy chained in series with each other. There are several ways to do this. An adjustable mounting bracket is available. The receiver is very light about 4. This can be accomplished by placement in separate locations in the room. In large lecture halls the receivers are often located in the ceiling or along the side walls.

This means that any number of copies may be made for computers owned by the institution on which PRS hardware will be used. Copies may also be made for personally owned computers used for class preparation or teaching at the purchasing institution. CSV that can be easily read as an Excel data file or imported into other grade book programs. Questions are saved in an XML format to support a standards-based approach.

Questions can be easily created through several methods. A simple question authoring tool is included in the Interwrite PRS package. An XML import capability is also included which allows prepared questions, responses and correct answers provided by book publishers to be quickly imported into your Lesson.

You can also utilize pen-based tools, such as the InterWrite Pad, to create freehand questions in the graphic window section of the Authoring tool. The software allows you to set each questions to show a graph of the responses either immediately, when you choose to or when all of the questions have been presented. Interwrite PRS can be run in a No Lesson mode, where the questions are in a separate application, or even written separately, such as on an OHP or whiteboard.

In the infra-red system, PRS uses a response grid which is displayed to the class and shows when a response has been received by grid squares changing colour.

With the radio frequency systems there is no need to have a response grid, since send and received confirmation is given directly from the handsets. The settings value can be set from 1 to 99, based on instructor preferences.

Only the last response is counted. The number of times a student responded is also tracked in the session. Yes, responses can be displayed in a graph format allowing the instructor to see the distribution of responses. At the end of the question, the instructor can click to see the details of who responded and their specific response. InterWrite PRS also includes an instructor window, which if a dual display environment is used, the instructor can see the responses for a question as students are responding.

This allows the instructor to pause and provide any additional information if desired.
