Post 3. After failure to install the full version I downloaded the demo version and successfully installed it in a new XP bottle.
The install did not complete gracefully Crossover reported it to be still installing after the install finished- quitting the bottle under manage bottles allowed it to quit and install the start in the Crossover menu. The demo installs the DLL's that did not install in the full version. I will work on troubleshooting this- I have seen lots of suggestions here and elsewhere.
